December 06, 2016 | Women's Volleyball
The junior led Oregon State with 443 kills and 506 points in 2016
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State junior Mary-Kate Marshall has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Pacific North All-Region Team, it was announced on Tuesday.
Â
The All-Region selection is the second of her career, following the 2014 season in which she was also named the Pac-12 Conference's Freshman of the Year.
Â
The 2016 selection continues what has been a busy postseason awards season for the Coppell, Texas native. She was selected to the Pac-12's First Team after leading Oregon State – and placing fifth in the league through the regular season – with 3.92 kills per set.
Â
Marshall, who is a kinesiology major, is a candidate for CoSIDA Academic All-America after being named Academic All-Region 8. She was also selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention squad.
Â
The outside hitter led Oregon State with 443 kills and 506 points 2016. In addition to her Pac-12 fifth-place finish for kills per set, she also finished the season second in the league with 4.48 points per set.
Â
Marshall led Oregon State with 26 service aces, and was third in both digs (260) and total blocks (64).
Â
Her 443 kills rank fifth-most by an Oregon State junior in a single season, and was just shy of the top 10 regardless of class.
Â
Marshall, a senior in 2017, ranks fifth all-time at Oregon State with 1,390 career kills. She is 91 shy of fourth-place holder Jill Sawatzky, who had 1,481 from 2007-10.
Â
Marshall also ranks fourth in attacks (4,344), sixth in total points (1,562), 22nd in digs (792), and 23rd in service aces (78).
Â
She is the first Oregon State player to be named First-Team All-Region twice in her career.Â
