Oregon State Remains in Second at Husky Invite

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Through two days of competition, the Oregon State swimming team remains in second place with 708 points—57 points behind leader San Diego—in the 68th annual Husky Invite at WeyerHauser King County Aquatic Center.
After the first day of the three-day invite, which saw the Beavers medal in 4-of-5 events last night, 13 swimmers made it through the prelims in this morning's session to compete in the finals.
The Oregon State 200-yard medley relay—made up of Felicia Anderson, Corrine Shigeta, Andrea Young and Sophie MacEwan—took first place on their way to setting a new meet record with a time of 1:42.28.

In the 100-yard butterfly, senior Andrea Young placed third for the Beavers with a mark of 55.08 to add to Oregon State's point total, while Sophie MacEwen, Brooke Meyer and Jesikah Cavanaugh also added points.
A pair of Beavers tied in the 100-yard breaststroke, as Shigeta and Young both clocked in a time of 1:03.10 to finish tied for third and also added points for OSU.
Standout freshman Felicia Anderson continued her success in the 100-yard backstroke, recording a time of 55.79—fastest of the season—to finished second.
Oregon State capped off the day placing third in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:35.58.

The Beavers will swim in tomorrow's prelim session, before returning to Corvallis.
Oregon State will head for Hawaii following the Invite for its training trip from December 11-21 where it will face Hawai'I on Dec. 18.
