Â
Why did you choose Oregon State?
It's a great college town in a beautiful state, has an amazing campus, and I got the opportunity to continue my softball career!
What do you enjoy about your major?
I've been through some injuries, so I know what it's like to go through that rough patch in life. I want to be able to help people who are going through the same things as I have.
What do you like most about playing softball?
My favorite part about playing softball are those clutch moments. The winning hit, the diving catch to end an inning. Those are the moments I live for.
Â
What is your favorite thing about playing for coach Berg?
She's a fun coach to play for and clearly has a lot of experience. She's someone who motivates you without even trying. I wouldn't want to play for anyone else!
Â
What does your uniform number mean to you?
Honestly, the number doesn't mean as much to me as the name "Oregon State" does on the front. At the end of the day, it's what you did for your team and not yourself that matters most.
What are the team goals for this season?
Make it to OKC, duh!!
Â
What is your personal goal for the season?
I want to be in the top 5 batting averages on the team.
What athlete did you idolize growing up and why?
My dad used to play in the NHL and on the men's national Canadian Fastpitch team. He's always been a role model to me and I think it's crazy that he played at a top level in multiple sports. He always reminds me to keep pushing even when things seem impossible.
Â
What age did you know you wanted to play softball in college and what made you realize that?
I think I've always known I wanted to play collegiate softball. I've been watching the WCWS on TVsince I was 9 years old and I remember thinking "I want that to be me some day."
Â
What song/band is most likely to be playing on your phone?
The Killers
Do you have any pregame rituals or traditions?
Most people like to listen to music, but I honestly love having some quiet time to think about the day I have ahead of me and mentally prepare for my competition.
What reality show could you see yourself being a part of?
Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives (I love Guy Fieri)
What is the best thing about living in Corvallis?
It's so GREEN! I'm from a desert, so seeing this many trees is crazy!!
What is your biggest phobia?
Bugs crawling in my ears and laying eggs......
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like hiking, driving around town with my brother, going to concerts, and meeting new people.
What is your favorite place on campus to hang out?
The athletic training center
Nickname: Si
Favorite movie: Step Brothers
Go to food spot in Corvallis: Broken Yolk
Favorite vacation destination: Belgium
Words to live by: "This, too, shall pass."
