
Get to know: Nerissa Eason

Over the next several weeks leading up to the Oregon State softball season opener, we will feature a new member of the softball team. Nerissa Eason is a freshman right-handed pitcher from Grass Valley, California and is majoring in public health.

Why did you choose Oregon State?
I choose Oregon State because I loved how it felt like home and how everyone was welcoming.
What do you enjoy about your major?
I enjoy being able to learn about helping others and that someday I'll be able to help people get better.
What do you like most about playing softball?
I love the competition and knowing that no matter what happens your teammates have your back.

What is your favorite thing about playing for coach Berg?
My favorite thing about playing for Coach Berg is knowing that she will do anything to make us better and that she wants to win. Also being able to prank her...it's on!

What does your uniform number mean to you?
My Dad has a car called the 50 and I've always loved the car so on one of my teams they asked what number I wanted. I chose 50 and it has stuck ever since.
What athlete did you idolize growing up and why?
My freshman year in high school I had the honor of playing with Ali Aguilar and watching her work ethic and how much she loves the game was inspirational and she has been my idol since then.

What age did you know you wanted to play softball in college and what made you realize that?
Probably my 8th grade year and watching all the games on TV and seeing how much fun everyone was having and I decided I wanted to be part of it.

What song/band is most likely to be playing on your phone?
My songs and artist vary, there isn't one that is most likely to be playing.
Do you have any pregame rituals or traditions?
I make sure I always have a light blue Gatorade and I have to start drinking it before I go out to pitch and I take sips in between innings.
What is the best thing about living in Corvallis?
I like being able to get to places in a small amount of time.
What is your biggest phobia?
My biggest phobia is spiders and mascots.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy hanging out with friends and going to the beach.
