Beavers Set For Friday’s Season Opener

THE GAME: Oregon State opens its regular season at 6 p.m. on Friday against the Prairie View A&M Panthers at Gill Coliseum.
TELEVISION: The game will be televised on Pac-12 Oregon with Guy Haberman and Drew Shiller calling the action.

vs. PRAIRIE VIEW A&M: Oregon State and Prairie View A&M meet for the fourth time with the Beavers winning the three previous meetings. The teams played three consecutive seasons, from 2003 to 2005, with the first and third games in Corvallis and the middle contest in Prairie View, Texas.
Oregon State won the first meeting, 70-53, in the 2003 season opener on Nov. 22 behind a team-high 16 points from David Lucas. The Beavers won the next season on the road, 67-63, on Dec. 21 with Nick DeWitz scoring a game-high 20 and Sasa Cuic adding 12. Oregon State completed the sweep on Nov. 22, 2005 when five Beavers scored in double figures for an 88-71 victory. Cuic led the way with 19 points, while Marcel Jones added 18 off the bench, Chris Stephens and DeWitz scored 15 apiece and Lamar Hurd chipped in 14.
EXHIBITION GAME: Oregon State defeated Corban in an exhibition game last Friday, 96-58, before a Gill Coliseum crowd of 4,663.
JaQuori McLaughlin had 17 points, four rebounds and three assists to pace OSU's balanced attack. The Beavers never tailed, led by as many as 38 points and shot .593 (32-54) from the field and .526 (10-19) on 3-pointers.
Tres Tinkle had 15 points, six rebounds and five assists in 21 minutes and Stephen Thompson Jr. added 14 points and two assists in just 19 minutes, while hitting 4 of 5 from deep.
Gligorije Rakocevic had 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead OSU's 48-29 edge on the boards. Cheikh N'diaye, Drew Eubanks and Daine Muller had 10 points apiece.
