Nelson has big day as Chiefs edge Jags

Second-year pro Steven Nelson of the Kansas City Chiefs started at cornerback and had two tackles, a quarterback hurry, a fumble recovery and three passes defended on Sunday in a 19-14 win over Jacksonville to lead Oregon State alums in Week 9 of the National Football League season.

D.J. ALEXANDER (2011-14), KANSAS CITY: The second-year linebacker had two special-teams tackles and forced a fumble in a 19-14 win over Jacksonville on Sunday.

DEREK ANDERSON (2001-04), CAROLINA: The quarterback did not play in a 13-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

JOSH ANDREWS (2010-13), PHILADELPHIA: The offensive lineman was inactive for a 28-23 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

BRANDIN COOKS (2011-13), NEW ORLEANS: The 2013 Biletnikoff Award winner had five receptions for 66 yards, with a long catch of 28 yards, in a 41-23 win over San Francisco on Sunday.

OBUM GWACHAM (2011-14), NEW ORLEANS: The second-year defensive end is on the injured reserve list.

CONNOR HAMLETT (2011-14), CLEVELAND: The second-year tight end was waived on Oct. 31 and then signed to the practice squad on Nov. 2.

JOHNNY HEKKER (2008-11), LOS ANGELES: The all-pro punter averaged 44.6 yards on four punts, with two downed inside the 20 and a long of 75 yards, in a 13-10 loss to Carolina on Sunday.

COLIN KELLY (2009-12), CHICAGO: The guard was signed to the Chicago Bears practice squad on Sept. 26.

ANDY LEVITRE (2005-08), ATLANTA: Andy started at left guard in a 43-28 win over Tampa Bay on Thursday night.

SEAN MANNION (2011-14), LOS ANGELES: The second-year quarterback was inactive for a 13-10 loss to Carolina on Sunday.

MATT MOORE (2005-06), MIAMI: The quarterback did not play in a 27-23 win over the New York Jets on Sunday.

RYAN MURPHY (2011-14), DENVER: The second-year defensive back was waived from the practice squad on Sept. 22.

KYLE PEKO (2015), DENVER: The rookie defensive lineman was released by the Broncos on Sept. 19 and then signed to their practice squad on Sept. 22.

JORDAN POYER (20009-12), CLEVELAND: The former All-American cornerback is on the injured reserve after suffering a lacerated kidney on Oct. 16.

MIKE REMMERS (2008-11), CAROLINA: Mike started at right tackle in a 13-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

JACQUIZZ RODGERS (2008-10), TAMPA BAY: Quizz has a foot injury and was inactive for a 43-28 loss to Atlanta on Thursday night.

ISAAC SEUMALO (2012-15), PHILADELPHIA: The Philadelphia rookie offensive lineman played but had no stats in a 28-23 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

TERRON WARD (2011-14), ATLANTA: The second-year running back gained 30 yards on eight carries, with a long run of six yards, in a 43-28 win over Tampa Bay on Thursday night.

MARKUS WHEATON (2009-12), PITTSBURGH: The wide receiver, who has been inactive for much of the season with a shoulder injury, was inactive again for a 21-14 loss to Baltimore on Sunday.

DYLAN WYNN (2011-14), CLEVELAND: The second-year defensive end is on the injured reserve list and will not play this season.
