Beavers, Bulldogs Set For Thursday Night Tilt

THE GAME: Oregon State (3-4) begins a two-game road swing with a stop in Starkville to face Mississippi State (4-2) at 6 p.m. PT (8 p.m. CT) on Thursday at the Humphrey Center.

The Bulldogs won the first matchup when they were ranked No. 17 in the nation, 76-62, on Dec. 29, 1995 at the Far West Classic at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore. Rob Williams led the Beavers with 23 points and J.D. Vetter added 14. Erick Dampier had 25 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs, while Dontae Jones added 16 points and Darryl Wilson dished out 13 assists.

The Beavers won two years ago, in Wayne Tinkle's first season, 59-49 on Dec. 13, 2014 at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis. Gary Payton II and Jarmal Reid led the Beavers with 13 points apiece, while Fred Thomas scored 16 to pace the Bulldogs.

This marks the ninth time Oregon State will play a current SEC team in a true road game. The Beavers are 1-7 in previous road contests with the win coming against Tennessee, 96-90, in overtime on Dec. 10, 1989 when Gary Payton was a senior.
