Mary-Kate Marshall Named All-Pac-12 First Team
November 28, 2016 | Women's Volleyball
The junior finished the 2016 season a team-leading 443 kills
SAN FRANCISCO – Oregon State junior Mary-Kate Marshall has been named to the Pac-12 Conference's First Team, the league announced on Monday.
Â
Marshall has now been named Pac-12 First Team twice during her career, earning the honor first in 2014 when she was also named the conference's freshman of the year. And in 2016, it was predicted she'd make it first team again as she was named a preseason first-teamer as voted on by the Pac-12's coaches.
Â
Coming off an honorable mention selection in 2015, the Coppell, Texas native led Oregon State with 443 kills in 2016, an average of 3.92 per set, which placed her fifth in the conference through the regular season. She also finished the season second in the league with 4.48 points per set.
Â
Marshall led Oregon State with 26 service aces, and was third in both digs (260) and total blocks (64).
Â
Her 443 kills rank fifth-most by an Oregon State junior in a single season, and was just shy of the top 10 regardless of class.
Â
Marshall, a senior in 2017, ranks fifth all-time at Oregon State with 1,390 career kills. She is 91 shy of fourth-place holder Jill Sawatzky, who had 1,481 from 2007-10.
Â
Marshall also ranks fourth in attacks (4,344), sixth in total points (1,562), 22nd in digs (792), and 23rd in service aces (78).
