
Eight Beavers earn Pac-12 all-academic honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Eight members of the 2016 Oregon State cross country team earned Pacific-12 Conference All-Academic honors, commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.
First-team selections were seniors Samantha Lewis and Emily Weber. Sophomore Juliana Mount was a second-team choice. Senior Morgan Anderson, juniors Kala Kopecek and Kristiane Width and sophomores Nicole Goecke and Sam McKinnon all earned honorable mention.
Weber is a three-time, first-team selection. Lewis was a second-team choice in 2015.
A student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor to be eligible for academic honors. Every member of the 2016 team who met the eligibility requirements was honored.
- Weber is a kinesiology major from Salem who has a 3.91 GPA. She also earned first-team honors in 2013 and 2014.
- Lewis is an exercise and sports science major from Boulder, Colo., who has a 3.90 GPA. She was a second-team choice in 2015.
- Anderson is a post-graduate kinesiology major from Scotts Mills, Ore. She was a second-team selection in 2015 and an honorable-mention choice in 2014.
- Mount is a university exploratory studies major from San Jose who has a 3.90 GPA. It is her first all-academic award.
- Width is a political science major from Oppegard, Norway, with a 3.66 GPA in political science. She also earned honorable-mention honors in 2015.
- Goecke is a pre-business major from Brush Prairie, Wash., who has a 3.54 GPA. It is her first all-academic honor.
- Kopecek is a pre-chemical engineering major from San Pedro, Calif., who has a 3.31 GPA. It is her first all-academic honor.
- McKinnon is a public health major from Meridian, Idaho, with a 3.44 GPA. It is her first all-academic honor.
