CORVALLIS, Ore. – Sophomore center Drew Eubanks scored a career-high 32 points and added nine rebounds on Monday night as Oregon State ended a four-game losing streak with an 84-59 victory over Southern Oregon at Gill Coliseum.
Eubanks broke his career high of 19 points by scoring 24 in the first half, on 11 of 16 shooting with an assortment of dunks and hook shots. He was 4 of 5 from the field in the second half and 15 of 21 overall, with two blocks and two assists.
The Beavers (3-4) used a 10-2 run in the final 3:30 of the first half to take a 45-35 intermission advantage over the hot-shooting Raiders (6-3), who were 9 of 19 on 3-point attempts. OSU then opened the second half on an 8-3 run for a 15-point (53-38) cushion.
They steadily distanced themselves from their NAIA opponent, and eventually led by as many as 27 points late in the second half.
Eubanks set his previous career best of 19 points against Iona on Nov. 17, 2015. He scored more points on Monday than he had in his previous three games combined (22).
Redshirt freshman guard Kendal Manuel added a career-best 15 points and four assists. Junior guard Ronnie Stacy set career bests with 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists and junior guard Matt Dahlen had five points, six rebounds and three assists.
Eight players scored and 10 played at least five minutes for the short-handed Beavers. They were without sophomore guard Stephen Thompson Jr. for the fifth game in a row and missing sophomore forward Tres Tinkle, their leading scorer (20.2 ppg) for the first game since he sustained a wrist injury against Fresno State on Nov. 25.
The Beavers hit the road on Wednesday for a two-game road trip to Mississippi State and Charlotte. They play MSU at 6 p.m. Thursday at Starkville, Miss., in a game that will be televised by ESPNU, and Charlotte at 4 p.m. Saturday in a radio-only contest.
OSU's next home game is against Savannah State at 3 p.m. on Dec. 11. It will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
