Oregon State Edged In Four In Civil War

Mary-Kate Marshall finished with 14 kills to lead the Beavers
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Mary-Kate Marshall tallied 14 kills and Lila Toner, in her last career match, notched 13 as the Oregon State volleyball team was edged in four sets by No. 19 Oregon Friday at Gill Coliseum.

The match was part of the Civil War, presented by PacificSource Health Plans, Spirit Mountain Casino, Safeway/Albertsons and Your Local Toyota Dealers. Set scores were 25-23, 19-25, 13-25 and 18-25.

The Beavers honored their five seniors prior to the match, including Toner, Katelyn Driscoll, Rachel Buehner, Emilie Wilmes and Jessi Seumalo. Toner finished the day with her 13 kills on 42 attacks, adding four digs and a solo block.

Marshall, meanwhile, recorded a double double as she added 14 digs to her 14 kills. She also had four total blocks – two solo.

The teams were closely matched at the net, with Oregon (20-9, 13-7) holding a slight advantage in digs, 11-to-9. The Beavers (12-19 overall, 5-15 Pac-12 Conference), though, had five solo blocks, with Seumalo and Kory Cheshire picking up one apiece.

Kayla Ellis paced the Beavers with 16 digs, and McKenna Hollingsworth and Lanesha Reagan each finished with one service ace.

Oregon State won a back-and-forth first serve, thanks to holding Oregon to a .051 hitting percentage. The first set saw 14 ties and seven lead changes.
