Oregon State Wins Fifth Straight Over Cal

Three players finished with double doubles in the win
BERKELEY, Calif. – Mary-Kate Marshall, Lanesha Reagan and McKenna Hollingsworth all tallied double doubles to help pace the Oregon State volleyball team to its fifth consecutive win over California with a five-set victory Wednesday afternoon at Haas Pavilion.

Set scores were 25-27, 25-14, 25-19, 23-25 and 15-10.

Marshall led Oregon State with 20 kills and 13 digs, while Reagan posted her team-leading 13th double double of the season courtesy of 19 kills and 11 digs. Hollingsworth rounded out the double double trio with 36 assists and 14 digs.

Kory Cheshire tied her career-high with eight blocks, while Jessi Seumalo set a season-high with six. Kayla Ellis helped pace the Oregon State defense with a team-leading 21 digs, which tied her season-high.

Cheshire finished just shy of a triple double, recording nine kills and seven digs to go along with her eight blocks, two of which were solo.

Overall, the Beavers hit .224 on the day, limiting Cal to a .141 mark. Oregon State also held the advantage in service aces, 8-to-1, and blocks, 14-to-six. The Bears did out-dig the Beavers, 97-to-79, and the teams tied with 63 kills.

Oregon State (12-18 overall, 5-14 Pac-12 Conference) never trailed in the three sets that it won. The Beavers hit .353 in set two, .262 in set three and .200 in set five. OSU held California (9-20, 3-16) to a .125 mark in the fifth and final set.

Marshall's 20 kills now give her 1,376 for her career, which moved her into sole possession of fifth place in Oregon State history. By virtue of 23.5 points on Wednesday, the junior also has 1,545 in her three seasons in Corvallis, moving her into sixth.

Oregon State returns home for its final match of the 2016 season Friday when hosting Oregon in the Civil War, presented by PacificSource Health Plans, Spirit Mountain Casino, Safeway/Albertsons and Your Local Toyota Dealers. The match starts at 12 p.m. PT.

Prior to the match, approximately 15 minutes before first serve, the team will honor its five seniors. They include Katelyn Driscoll, Rachel Buehner, Lila Toner, Emilie Wilmes and Jessi Seumalo.
