CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State cross country team moved up four spots to No. 11 in the West Region on Monday when the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association released its bi-weekly rankings.
The Beavers advanced after taking ninth place at the Pacific-12 Conference Championships on Oct. 28. It was their best finish in five years, and they were just 23 points behind No. 23-ranked UCLA in the battle for seventh place. Senior Emily Weber led the Beavers by taking 24th in 21:20 for 6,000 meters.
Seven other Pac-12 teams joined OSU in the West Region rankings. Washington is No. 1, followed by Stanford (2), Oregon (4), California (6), UCLA (7), Arizona (10) and Arizona State (14). Pac-12 champion Colorado (1) and Utah (3) are ranked in the Mountain Region.
The Beavers are now idle until the NCAA West Regionals, set for Nov. 11 at the Haggin Oaks Golf Club in Sacramento, Calif. Sacramento State is the host school.
Indiana State hosts the NCAA Championships on Nov. 19 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terra Haute, Ind. OSU won its 25-team White pool at the ISU Pre-Nationals Invitational on that course back on Oct. 15.
