Kerkvliet’s Ace Highlights Second Round

EL DORADO, Ark. – Tom Kerkvliet made a hole-in-one at the Duck Commander Intercollegiate on Monday to highlight the second round for the Oregon State men's golf team.
Kerkvliet, a sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, used a 9-iron on the par-3, 158-yard 12th hole for the ace, which propelled him to a career-best 1-over 73.
The Beavers played much better in the middle round and moved one spot up the 10-team leaderboard into fifth place with a 25-over 305-296--601 at the par-72, 7,064-yard Mystic Creek Golf Club.
Arkansas-Little Rock leads with a 15-over 591, a stroke better than three teams, Stephen F. Austin, Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe, which are all tied for second with a 16-over 592.
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. CT (6:30 a.m. PT) on Tuesday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Senior Calum Hill has been fantastic in the Beavers' final tournament of the fall seasons, shooting a 1-over 74-71--145, to put him in a tie for fifth place. His been career finish is ninth place at the El Macero Classic last spring.
Junior Jonas Liebich fired a 4-over 76 for the second straight day to maintain his tie for 18th place position.
Seniors Conner Kumpula (78-76) and Kevin Murphy (77-79) are tied for 26th and 32nd, respectively, while Kerkvliet (88-73) moved into a tie for 50th.
Tanner Napier of Arkansas State is first with a 5-under 139, while Hogan Arey of Louisiana-Monroe is second with a 1-under 143 and George Trujillo of Arkansas-Little Rock and Major Monzingo of Stephen F. Austin are tied for third with an even-par 144.
