Jason Amberg is in his seventh year as an assistant communications director after joining the Oregon State staff in December of 2004. His primary responsibilities are with the football and gymnastics programs at OSU.

His primary responsibilities at OSU are with the football and gymnastics programs as well as the men's and women's rowing programs.

During his time working with the football program, he has assisted in the promotion and communications of the football program through three bowl seasons.

In addition, Amberg leads all promotional aspects of the perennially ranked gymnastics program and has been the media coordinator for an NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, two NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regional Championships and a Pac-10 Women's Gymnastics Championships. Amberg also assisted as the media coordinator of an NCAA Women's Golf Championships.

In recent years, Amberg has helped OSU move from a traditional sports information office into a more modern athletics communications office including the transition to social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Amberg is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America and the Football Writers Association of America.

He began his career as the athletic media relations assistant at Portland State University and as a game day assistant for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association. While at Portland State, he was the primary sports information contact for volleyball, wrestling programs as well as men's and women's cross country and track & field.

Amberg earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and a minor in Public Relations from Washington State University in 2004 and also has an associate's degree with emphasis in Journalism from Linn-Benton Community College (2002) in Albany, Ore. While in college, he interned in the sports information offices at WSU and the University of Idaho. During his time at Washington State, Amberg assisted at the NCAA Men's Basketball Championships in Spokane, Wash. in 2003 and in Seattle in 2004.

A native of Corvallis, Jason graduated from Crescent Valley High School (1993) before serving six years in the U.S. Navy. Jason and his wife, Aret, have two daughters, Isabel and Kylie.
