Northwest Dodge Dealers To Sponsor Civil War Series

The Northwest Dodge Dealers Civil War series, featuring Oregon State University and the University of Oregon, enters into the third year of partnership with the schools. The Northwest Dodge Dealers Civil War Series started in 1999-2000 and was the blueprint for many other rivalry competitions throughout America. At the conclusion of each year The Northwest Dodge Civil War Cup is presented to the school with the most victories in head to head competition between the schools.

"The Northwest Dodge Dealers are happy to sponsor the Civil War Series between the University of Oregon and Oregon State University," said Lawton Verger, a member of the Northwest dodge Dealers board of directors. "We feel this is a healthy rivalry that may not receive as much attention beyond the borders of the state as it deserves, and wish to promote the spirit of the competition within the framework of cooperation. We look forward to a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship."

The Beavers and Ducks will compete directly in nine different sports with fifteen total contests. There is a total of seventeen points awarded throughout the year. The official point breakdown is as follows:

1999-2000 Civil War Cup Series Champion - University of Oregon, 11-6
2000-2001 Civil War Cup Series Champion - *TIE OSU 8.5 pts. U of O 8.5 pts.
2001-2002 Civil War Cup Series Champion -- Oregon State, 9-8.
*The women's soccer game ended in a tie, each school received .5 points for the contest
