Free Concert Postgame at Season Opener
It’s hard to believe Beaver Nation, but Sat., Aug. 30 will mark the 10th season of football since the monumental “Raising Reser” campaign. To celebrate the milestone OSU Athletics is proud to host country music artist and former Beaver football student-athlete Kurt Van Meter for a free concert postgame at the corner of 26th street/Ralph Miller Way (Parker Plaza/Gill Coliseum).
To honor Van Meter's Beaver uniform number from his playing days, starting at 7 a.m. Tues., Aug. 19 the popular Valley View tickets will go on sale for $21 and the Club Level tickets will be reduced to $68 (savings of $21). To take advantage of this special offer go to beavertickets.com (the offer is available for only 21 hours) or for more information call the OSU Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS during business hours.
The promo code for the ticket offer is OSU21 and the direct link is available here.
Van Meter is a rising country musician and his band is currently performing with Montgomery Gentry, who performed following the 2005 season opener, with Van Meter's latest single "Good at Bein Bad" climbing the music charts in the Northwest. Van Meter also played a popular pregame concert at Tailgate at Truax last fall.
“Beaver Nation has been very supportive of the concerts we have held recently around our football games; we intend to make this a tradition for home openers going forward,” OSU Deputy Athletic Director Mark Massari said. “Football games are always a special event on our campus and we are excited to present this year’s concert as an added experience for fans enjoying the day in Corvallis.”
The Beavers host the Portland State Vikings at 1 p.m., for the 2014 season opener, coincidentally the same opponent that visited the expanded Reser Stadium Sept. 3, 2005. OSU won that game 41-14 in front of a then stadium record crowd of 42,263 with current Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Matt Moore passing for 367 yards and four touchdowns.
If that’s not enough incentive to visit Reser Stadium, current Beaver quarterback Sean Mannion will likely pass former Pac-12 Conference greats Rudy Carpenter, Andrew Walter and Matt Leinart in his season-long quest to become the league’s top passer in history.
Season tickets remain available in all sections of the stadium. Purchases can be made by contacting the ticket office via this link, or during business hours at Gill Coliseum or at 1-800-GO-BEAVS. The seven-game home schedule also includes the 118th edition of the Civil War, presented by The Oregon College Savings Plan, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Ford Stores, Wells Fargo and McDonald’s. The remainder of the home slate comprises San Diego State, Utah, California, Washington State and Arizona State.
