EUGENE, Ore. – Six athletes - participating in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, 1,500m and 400m hurdles - posted personal bests on Thursday night for the Oregon State track and field squad at the Titan Twilight hosted by Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore.
Jessica Lautenbach led off the evening’s action for the Beavers when she won the high jump with a leap of 5’ 4.25”. It was a new PR for the sophomore, whose previous high came earlier this season at the Oregon Preview on March 22 (5’ 3.75”).
In the horizontal jumps, Bethany Imperial, who moved into OSU’s all-time top 10 in the triple jump last weekend, did herself one better on Thursday. The sophomore transfer posted a mark of 35’ 6”, a distance nearly three inches better than last Saturday and one which solidifies her hold on fourth in Oregon State annals.
Kaitlyn Mason tied her long jump PR, winning the event with a distance of 17’ 9.50”. She achieved that same mark as a sophomore at the Willamette Invitational on April 6, 2013.
On the track, Ryan Cope continued his steady improvement in the 400m hurdles. The OSU football placekicker ran 55.26, finishing second and bettering his previous PR by four hundredths of a second. In the 1,500m both Haley Hunt (2nd; 4:48.32) and Monica Anderson (7th; 5:05.98) ran their best races for the Beavers.
In other competition this weekend, triple jumper Michele Turney will be joined by throwers of Melissa Ausman, Kayla Fleskes, Christina MacDonald and Rachel Picknell and the UCSD Triton Invitational in Southern California over the next two days.
