Corvallis, Ore. – Four members of the Oregon State wrestling team earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, as announced by Conference Commissioner Larry Scott.
Redshirt sophomore Drew Van Anrooy was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team for his excellence in both the classroom and on the mat. He is one of just 10 wrestlers to be named first team, currently studying Biology while maintaining an impressive 3.67 GPA. This is Van Anrooy’s second straight year earning top academic marks within the conference.
Redshirt junior Alex Elder earned Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team honors for his hard work in academics and athletics. He is currently studying Public Health and Human Sciences and maintains a 3.15 GPA. Elder is just one of 10 recipients to achieve this honor, and has earned second team status two years in a row.
Two Beaver wrestlers earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention, redshirt sophomore Toney Chay and junior Joe Latham. Chay, a Construction Engineering major, has maintained a 3.00 GPA, earning his first conference academic honor. Latham, an Environmental Engineering student, has a 3.05 GPA. This is his second all-academic honor after earning first team status in 2012. Chay and Latham are two of just seven wrestlers named as honorable mentions, epitomizing diligence in the classroom and on the mat.
