CORVALLIS, Ore. – Junior Dani Gilmore extended her hitting streak to five consecutive games, but the Oregon State softball team could not overcome the high-powered offense of No. 1 Oregon, as the Ducks took an 18-0 victory in the final game of the Civil War series presented by The Oregon College Savings Plan, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Ford Stores, Wells Fargo and McDonald’s.
Gilmore’s hit was her sixth double, and 15th extra-base hit of the season. The two-bagger improved her batting average on the year to .406.
Junior Kori Nishitomi walked twice in the contest, while fellow junior CJ Chirichignoreached base for the sixth consecutive game with a walk.
Oregon State (13-23, 3-10 Pac-12) found itself in a hole early, as Oregon (37-5, 11-1) scored 11 runs in the top of the first. The Ducks then added six in the third and one in the fourth to lock down the victory.
The Beavers will hit the road this week, as they head south for a three game series with UCLA, beginning Thursday.
