TEMPE, Ariz. Anica Yoo fired an even-par 72 in the final round of the PING/ASU Invitational to lead the Oregon State women’s golf team at the three-day, 54-hole tournament that concluded on Sunday.

The Beavers got better each day as they shot a 48-over 308-303-301--912 at the par-72, 6,223-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course to finish in 14th place in a field that featured 13 teams ranked among the top 40 by Golfstat.

South Carolina ran away with the team title with an 11-under 853, while Washington, Arizona State and Duke tied for second with a 5-under 850. Celine Boutier of Duke claimed medalist honors with an 8-under 208.

“Today was again an improvement in our performance,” Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. “We played even with Vanderbilt, the No. 12-ranked team in the country, and we continue to develop a first things first attitude. This team is working diligently to change their culture and perspective, and I believe they are beginning to turn a corner in their performance. We will continue to make practice challenging as we head into our last regular season event at Silverado.

“All in all, we had 10 birdies today, four of which were holed by Anica Yoo, who shot an even par round for the day. Our place finish should not deter this team since we competed against nine of the top 12 teams in the country. They can hold their heads up high and look forward to our next event.”

Yoo, a junior from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, had four birdies and four bogeys in her final round 72 and moved up nine spots to finish in a tie for 33rd place with a 5-over 74-75-72--221.

Sophomore Chelsea Saelee finished in a tie for 58th place with a 12-over 74-77-77--228, senior Seshia Telles tied for 62nd with a 13-over 81-72-76--229, senior Lauren Sewell shot a 19-over 80-79-76--235 for 73rd and freshman Jesse Hamilton finished in 78th with a 28-over 80-81-83--244.

The Beavers will play in their final tournament before they host the Pac-12 Championship when they compete at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif., on Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15.
