Oregon State Volleyball Splits With Oregon
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Katelyn Driscoll and Arica Nassar each posted 10 kills to pace the Oregon State volleyball team to a 2-2 split with Oregon Saturday morning at the Dixon Recreation Center on the OSU campus.
The teams had decided before the exhibition match to play four sets. Oregon State won sets one and four, 25-21 and 25-23, while Oregon won sets two and three, 25-21 and 25-16.
Laura Schaudt pitched in with eight kills and Lila Toner had seven for the Beavers, who hit .270 for the match.
Driscoll, who missed the entire 2013 season due to injury, teamed with Haley Clarke for nine blocks. Darby Reeder, meanwhile, had 13 digs in the match.
OSU found itself down 13-8 in set one, then went on a 10-2 run to go up 18-15. Oregon managed to tie it at 21 but OSU scored the final four points on a block by Clarke and an ace by Tayla Woods which was followed by two Ducks’ attacking errors.
Oregon ran out to a 10-4 lead in set two, and the Beavers were unable to climb out of the early hole in a 25-21 loss.
Set three was similar, with OSU down 10-7 before the Ducks jumped out to a 19-10 advantage.
Oregon State took a 9-5 lead, and, after an Oregon point, saw Toner and Driscoll post kills to go up 11-6. The Beavers moved to a 16-10 advantage but the Ducks battled back to pull within two, 22-20. The clubs traded points from there on out; Driscoll had the Beavers’ last two points.
OSU follows up the match versus the Ducks with an April 12 doubleheader at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers host Western Oregon and Southern Oregon beginning at 10 a.m.
