No. 17 Beavs Top Broncos 34-6

Boise, Idaho – The No. 17 Cruises past Boise State with a 34-6 win on the road. Run simultaneously with the Bronco’s gymnastics meet, this “Beauty in the Beast” competition ended in an Oregon State triumph.

The Beavers took the first three bouts, starting at 125. Pat Rollins tallied a 2-0 decision over Haddadin, while Joey Palmer (133) earned an 18-5 major decision over DeMuelle. At 141 Drew Van Anrooy collected a 16-4 major decision over Boise State’s Caldwell, giving the Beavs an early 11-0 lead.

The Broncos jumped on the board at 149 as Himmelman earned a 6-4 decision over Jared Reis, bringing the score to 11-3. Oregon State then switched gears and took the next five bouts.

At 157, Jordan Henrickson claimed a 20-4 technical fall over Boise State’s West. The Beavs earned back-to-back pins at 165 and 174. Alex Elder pinned Boise State’s Packard in 3:21, while Toney Chay pinned Meyer in 2:35, extending the Beaver’s lead to 28-3.

Oregon State’s Zach Cardwell (184) earned a 3-1 decision over Dewey, followed by Brian Engdahl, who earned a 4-0 decision over Callejas. The Broncos took the final bout as Dixon claimed a 6-5 decision over Mick Dougharity, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Beavs who solidified a 34-6 victory.

The Beavs return home to train for the NCAA Tournament, set for the end of March in Oklahoma City.
