Last Game
Michael Conforto drove in three runs and Jake Thompson tossed seven scoreless innings as the Beavers completed their trip to Tempe with a 7-0 victory over Pacific on Monday. Conforto singled, walked and tripled in the win while Jeff Hendrix also drove in two in OSU’s five-run seventh inning. Thompson retired 10 of his last 11 batters and totaled three strikeouts with three hits allowed.

Conforto’s Big Weekend
Michael Conforto claimed Pac-12 Player of the Week honors after clubbing 11 RBI over the four games. Although, Monday’s effort against UOP didn’t count toward his nomination, and in fact will be good for next week. Regardless, he finished the weekend with seven hits, six walks, two doubles, a triple and 11 RBI. He leads the Pac-12 with 11 RBI, followed closely by teammate Dylan Davis, who has seven.

Starts Keep Coming
A recipie for the Beavers’ success in 2013 was the starting staff’s ability to go deep into games. 2014 has been no different as the team’s four starters in Tempe all went at least six innings and each tallied a quality start. They combined to throw 27 innings and ammass a 1.67 earned run average. They also helped toss the team’s first shutout of the season.

Hendrix Note
Jeff Hendrix has led off in three of the four games thus far, and already has six runs batted in via three multi-RBI efforts. Perhaps as importantly, he has gotten on base at a .733 clip via five hits, four walks and two hit by pitches. That’s set the table for Michael Conforto and Dylan Davis, who, as mentioned before, are Nos. 1 and 2 in the Pac-12.

Walks Could Be Key
It’s obvious the Beavers are more than happy to take free passes this season. They collected 34 over the first four games, and lead the Pac-12 by 12 over No. 2 Arizona State. Four of the top five individual leaders in walks are Beavers, including league leaders Michael Conforto and Logan Ice, who each had six.

Singles
• OSU’s pitching staff is second in the Pac-12 with just seven walks issued.
• Trever Morrison comes into the weekend on a four-game hit streak after collecting one hit in each game in Tempe.
• Sunday’s game against Indiana has been moved to a 10 a.m. PT start. That’s 11 a.m. in Arizona.
• OSU is 1-0 when trailing after six innings.
