No. 22 Heads to Boise State and ASU

Corvallis, Ore. – The No. 22 Oregon State wrestling team travels to take on Boise State and Arizona State in its final two Pac-12 meets of the 2013-14 season.

The Beavers (9-5) first face Boise State (2-7) on Friday in the biannual Border War. These two teams last battled earlier this season, and the Broncos claimed a 19-18 win on the road. Oregon State is 28-17-1 all-time against Boise State, the first match dating back to 1975.

Oregon State finds its four usual wrestlers ranked in this week’s polls. At 149, Scott Sakaguchi sits at No. 11/11, while RJ Pena ranks at No. 11/8 at 157. Taylor Meeks is ranked No. 12/11 and Amarveer Dhesi sits at No. 14/14 (InterMat/The Open).

The Broncos will feature two ranked wrestlers come Friday, No. 7/7 Jake Swartz at 184 and No. 9/10 J.T. Felix at HWT (InterMat/The open Mat).

Sunday, the Beavs take on Arizona State. These two squads last went head to head in 2013, and Oregon State earned a 42-4 victory at home. The Beavers are 18-17-0 all-time against the Sun Devils, the first match dating back to 1970.

Arizona State also finds one of its wrestlers in the rankings, No. 18 Blake Stauffer at 184 (The Open Mat). With two difficult conference matches over the weekend, the Beavers are looking to grab two wins against their Pac-12 opponents before heading into post-season competition.
