Corvallis, Ore. – The No. 22 Oregon State wrestling team heads to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly in its third Pac-12 matchup of the season.

Thursday will be especially unique as Cal Poly will be hosting the meet outdoors in the plaza of their University Union on campus. This will pose and interesting, yet exclusive opportunity for the Beavs as they are accustomed to wrestling indoors for obvious reasons.

The Beavers (8-5, 2-0) and the Mustangs (3-5, 1-1) last faced off in 2013, and Oregon State claimed a 50-0 win at home, leading them to their second straight Pac-12 title. Oregon State is 37-11-2 all-time against Cal Poly, the first match dating back to 1960.

Oregon State is coming off a big weekend, having upset No. 20 Lehigh 28-10 and narrowly conceding to No. 6 Oklahoma 20-18. The Beavers also saw exciting performances over the weekend from several of their wrestlers, including RJ Pena with a pin on Senior Day, Scott Sakaguchi and his comeback win in overtime, Joe Latham’s 5-2 upset over No. 16 Elliot Riddick, and Pat Rollins’ pin over an Oklahoma opponent in his first meet back as a starter in Gill Coliseum.

Now, the Beavers are set to finish the remainder of their season on the road, starting with Cal Poly on Thursday. With a 2-0 start in Pac-12 competition, Oregon State is looking to grab the win and continue to prove themselves against their conference opponents.

The Beavers will be featuring their usual four ranked wrestlers come Thursday: No. 11/10 Sakaguchi (149), No. 11/8 Pena (157), No. 12/11 Taylor Meeks (197), and No. 14/14 Amarveer Dhesi (HWT), by InterMat/The Open Mat, respectively. The Mustangs will also wrestle one ranked athlete, No. 18/20 Devon Lotito (133).

Thursday’s match is set to begin at 3 p.m. PT at the University Union Plaza in San Luis Obispo.
