TEMPE, Ariz. – Sophomore Sammy Harrison led the Oregon State swimming team with a trio of top-three finishes, as the Beavers faced Arizona State Saturday morning. Harrison opened her day with a first-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:04.22. She followed that up by taking second in the 500 freestyle (4:52.75) and third in the 100 freestyle (53.33).
Senior Crystal Kibby recorded a pair of second-place finishes, completing the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.06 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:21.00. Kibby also placed third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.01. Classmate Aya Fujimura also tallied two second-place finishes, accomplishing the feat in the 200 butterfly (2:09.03) and the 100 butterfly (58.55).
Sophomore Amani Amr took second In the 100 backstroke (57.10) and placed third in the 200 backstroke (2:03.98). Freshman Czsarina Isleta finished third in both the 100 breaststroke (1:06.12) and the 200 breaststroke (2:22.34), before placing fifth in the 200 IM (2:12.99). Freshman Brook Meyer finished fourth in both the 200 butterfly (2:13.52) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.81), while classmate Taylor Frank placed fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:32.61) and the 1,000 freestyle (11:10.07). Fellow freshman Sophie MacEwan took fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.86).
The team of Amr, Kibby, sophomore Constance Toulemonde and freshman Anni Hecker finished third in the 200 medley relay (1:49.22), while the squad of Amr, Hecker, Harrison and MacEwan placed third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.18).
As a team, the Beavers fell to the Sun Devils 190-70. Oregon State will return to action Saturday, as it celebrates Senior Day by hosting BYU.
