TUCSON, Ariz. – Senior Crystal Kibby led the Oregon State swimming team with one event win and two second-place finishes, as the Beavers competed in a quad-meet hosted by Arizona on Friday. Kibby finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.34, and took second in both the 200 breaststroke (2:19.55) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.84).
As a team, the Beavers recorded a 157-137 victory over Northern Arizona, but lost to Arizona (195-91) and New Mexico State (149-138).
Sophomore Sammy Harrison tallied a trio of top-three finishes. The Henderson, Nev., native took first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:55.30. She also took second in the 1,000 freestyle at 10:07.30 and placed third in the 200 freestyle (1:52.82).
Sophomore Amani Amr recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes, completing the 100 backstroke in 57.60 and the 200 backstroke in 2:04.71. Freshman Sophie MacEwan finished fourth in the 50 freestyle (24.69) and seventh in the 100 backstroke (59.64), while classmate Anni Hecker matched her by finishing fourth in the 100 freestyle (53.53) and seventh in the 50 freestyle (25.03).
Classmate Czsarina Isleta followed Kibby with a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM (2:11.39), and tallied another fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.13).Senior Aya Fujimura placed fifth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.41, before taking sixth in the 100 butterfly (58.10).
The team of Amr, Kibby, Toulemonde and MacEwan placed fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:48.09), while the squad of freshman Andrea Young, Hecker, Harrison and MacEwan finished fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:37.18).
The Beavers will be back in action tomorrow, when they head to Tempe to take on Arizona State in a dual meet.
