Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s rowing team will compete in eight events during its spring season, as announced Wednesday by Head Coach Steve Todd.
The Beavers are set to race in two different regular season invitational meets, the Husky Invitational and the Stanford Invitational, as well as the Opening Day Regatta in Seattle, Washington. The Stanford Invitational, in particular, will feature teams such as California, Wisconsin, and UC San Diego.
In addition, Oregon State will go head to head with the University of Victoria, Gonzaga, and Stanford throughout the spring. The Beavers will conclude their season at the Pac-12 Championships in Rancho Cordova, California and the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships in Mercer Lake, New Jersey.
“Our 2014 racing schedule is a great for this year's team,” Todd said. “It will be a challenge every race and prepare us well to reach the IRA National Championship at the end of the year.”
The Beavers finished the fall with a first place finish at the Portland Fall Classic and a second place finish at the Head of the Lake Regatta. They are looking to continue their progress as they head into the spring.
“We've got exciting races against northwest rivals and our PAC-12 opponents,” Todd said. “Bringing in Drexel from Philadelphia this year makes for a great mix!”
Oregon State will train all throughout the off season in preparation for their first competition in early April. The full schedule will be available at www.osubeavers.com.
