CORVALLIS, Ore. – Preparations for the 2014 gymnastics season continue this Friday when the Oregon State gymnasts host the annual Orange and Black Exhibition at 7 p.m. Admission is free and the team will sign autographs following the event.

“We’re really looking forward performing for our crowd on Friday night,” head coach Tanya Chaplin said. “The Orange and Black Exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for our gymnasts to take the next step towards being ready for the season. It is a signal that competition season is just around the corner, helps to prepare the freshmen what a college meet looks like and is just a great opportunity to interact with Beaver Nation.”

The format for the 2013 exhibition will feature the gymnasts broken up into two squads competing against each other. Five or six competitors from each team will perform on each of the four events with three scores counting to determine the winner.

The Beavers open their season Saturday, Jan. 11 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to face Ohio State and Bowling Green. OSU’s home opener is Saturday, Jan. 25 when Iowa State visits Corvallis. Oregon State’s annual Pink Out will be held Monday, Feb. 3, when the Beavers host Stanford in a meet that will be televised via the Pac-12 Networks. Season ticket orders will be taken at the exhibition.

Leading the Beavers this season will be returning All-American and fifth-year senior Kelsi Blalock as well as all-conference performers Erika Aufiero, Brittany Harris and Chelsea Tang.

New to the program this year, and making their Gill Coliseum debuts, will be freshmen Maddie Gardiner, Megan Jimenez, Kana Kobayashi, Kaytianna McMillan and Taylor Ricci.
