LAS VEGAS – Sophomore Sammy Harrison finished fourth in the 500 freestyle, as the Oregon State swimming team competed in the Las Vegas Invitational Thursday. Harrison completed the event final with a time of 4:46.82, finishing less than four seconds off the first-place pace set by California’s Elizabeth Pelton. Harrison took first in the preliminary round with a time of 4:46.51, the fourth-best time in Oregon State history.
Senior Crystal Kibby placed seventh in the 200 IM, finishing with a finals time of 2:02.24. Kibby finished third in the preliminary round at 2:02.15, the seventh- best time in school history. Freshman Sophie MacEwan placed 37th in the 50 freestyle (24.00), while classmate Andrea Young took 44th in the 200 IM (2:10.02). Sophomore Amani Amr and Young both tied for 45th in the 50 freestyle at 24.27.
As a team, the Beavers finished the day in fifth with 55 points.
The Las Vegas Invitational will continue tomorrow.
