CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State swimming team has signed two swimmers to National Letters of Intent, head coach Larry Liebowitz announced today. Corrine Shigeta and Alexa Wasserman will both join the Beavers for the 2014-15 season.
Shigeta (Honolulu, Hawaii/Kaiser High School) is a three-time Oahu Interscholastic Association champion in the 100 freestyle, and has also won league championships in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 freestyle. She is a Hawaii age-group champion in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and has been a part of OIA and Hawaii-state record-breaking relay squads.
Wasserman (La Quinta, Calif./Palm Springs High School) won the 2012 Desert Valley League title in the 100 breaststroke, before winning the DVL 200 IM championship in 2013. She was also a member of the CIF Southern Section Division II Champion 200 medley relay team in 2013, joining current Oregon State freshman Sophie MacEwan on the squad.
The Beavers will be in action for the final time in 2013 this week, as they compete in the Las Vegas Invitational beginning Thursday.
