Washington, D.C. – Oregon State’s Taylor Meeks defeated Minnesota’s Scott Schiller 6-4 in overtime at the All-Star Classic.

No. 1 Meeks and No. 2 Schiller battled at the 197 lb. weight class and were the fifth bout of the night. The match remained scoreless for the first two periods, both wrestlers showing their determination.

In the third period, both Meeks and Schiller were awarded one point each, bringing the score to 1-1. Meeks extended his lead to 3-1 with a takedown at the end of the third period.

Schiller was able to tie things up at 4-4 and the pair went into overtime. Meeks countered a cradle in overtime to score a counter-takedown and defeated Schiller 6-4, collecting his first win of the season.

Meeks returns to Corvallis to re-group with the rest of the Beavers to prepare for the Mike Clock Open next weekend.
