Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s crew team closes out its fall season in Seattle on Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Head of the Lake Regatta.
This will be the last race for the Beavers until spring of 2014, when they will compete in three more events: the Husky Open, a head to head race against Stanford, and the Pac-12 Rowing Championships.
The Head of the Lake is hosted by the University of Washington and the Lake Washington Rowing Club. The three-mile course begins on Lake Union, winds beneath the University Bridge, through the Montlake Cut to Lake Washington, and finishes at the University of Washington’s Conibear Shellhouse.
Oregon State will enter three boats in the Head of the Lake Regatta: Varsity 8+, Junior Varsity 8+, and Third Varsity 8+.
In the V8+, the Beavers will race against Gonzaga, Washington State, the University of Washington, the University of British Columbia, and UC San Diego.
Competitors in the JV8+ include Gonzaga, Lewis and Clark, Washington State, the University of Washington, University of British Columbia, University of Puget Sound, and University of Victoria.
In the Beavers’ last event, the 3V8+, Oregon State will race against Gonzaga, Seattle, Washington State, the University of Washington, University of British Columbia, and University of Victoria.
Last weekend, the Beavers had a strong showing at the Portland Fall Classic, posting the fastest time of the day. Oregon State’s Varsity A boat posted a time of 15:40:20, breaking the unofficial course record by one second. OSU’s B and C boats followed with times of 16:18:68 and 16:53:90, respectively.
