CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State swimming team will host Pac-12 foe Stanford Friday, in the Beavers’ final competitive home meet of the fall. The meet will be held at the Osborn Aquatic Center.
The Cardinal is coming off a pair of dual meet wins over San Jose State and Washington State, both of which came at home. Stanford finished eighth at last season’s NCAA Championships, and returns a number of talented swimmers to this year’s squad. Senior Maya DiRado placed second in the 400 IM and third in the 200 IM at last season’s NCAA Championships, while classmate Felicia Lee took fourth in the 100 backstroke. Junior Maddy Schaefer tied for fourth in the 50 freestyle.
The Beavers have been led this season by sophomore Sammy Harrison. The Henderson, Nev., native placed first in the 100 freestyle, the 500 freestyle and the 200 freestyle against Utah, and will look to continue her success this week. Sophomore Amani Amr took a pair of second-place finishes against the Utes, while senior Crystal Kibby took one second and one third-place finish.
Oregon State will also look for another solid effort from its freshman class, which has contributed five top-three finishes in the first two meets of the season. Sophie MacEwan has tallied one second-place finish, while Czsarina Isleta has taken a pair of third-place finishes. Chelsea Chan and Brooke Meyer have placed third once apiece.
The Beavers will follow Friday’s meet with their Alumni Relays, which will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Stevens Natatorium at the Dixon Recreation Center.
