Salt Lake City, Utah – The Oregon State women’s soccer team lost a hard-fought battle to Utah, Sunday, 1-0.

In the 15th minute, the Utes jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Katie Taylor played a ball across the box, finding teammate Taylor Slattery back post, who slid and found the back of the net.

For the remainder of the game, the Beavers put relentless pressure on the Utah back line, out-shooting their opponents for a majority of the match. Oregon State tallied eight shots, five of which were on frame, causing Utah’s Lindsey Luke to make big saves.

Senior forward Jenna Richardson put two shots on goal, followed by senior captain Jacy Drobney, senior forward Brandi Dawson, and sophomore defender Audrey Gibb, who each tallied one a piece.

Unfortunately, the Beavers could not find the equalizer and the game ended with a score of 1-0 after the final whistle, moving Oregon State to 2-8-2 on the season and 0-2-1 in Pac-12 play.

“Today, our girls played an extremely good game in all areas of play,” said Head Coach Linus Rhode. “We were very unfortunate to come away with this result.”

The Beavers return home next weekend to take on Arizona and Arizona State, and Oregon State is ready to record a win in front of Beaver Nation.

“If we keep playing like this, I believe we will get rewarded,” Rhode said.
