OREGON STATE – 2013: After starting five games in 2012, Cody Vaz (sounds like raz) remained in competition with Sean Mannion through most of fall camp … played in five games completing 12 of 18 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown … matched his career-long pass on a 59-yard completion to Micah Hatfield in a win over Hawai’i … connected with Hatfield for a 33-yard touchdown against Washington on the last pass of his collegiate career … finished his career with a 12:4 TD to interception ratio. 2012: Vaz began the season as the No. 2 quarterback … had fantastic spring practice session and fall camp … forced into action by Sean Mannion’s knee injury … made his first start since high school and first appearance since 2010 at BYU … went 20-for-32 for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns in win at BYU – earned Capital One Impact Performance of the Week and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week following the victory … won his second start as well at home against Utah … played in relief at Washington nearly leading a come-from-behind win … named the starter at Stanford but suffered an ankle injury in the final moments … missed two games before returning to play against Nicholls State. 2011: Finished the season as the top back-up at quarterback but did not see any game action in 2011 … with incumbent starter, Ryan Katz, limited during spring due to injury, Vaz took the majority of the first unit snaps … completed 19 of 32 attempts (1 INT) for 234 yards in the Spring Game. 2010: Played in five games, completing 6 of 17 pass attempts for 48 yards … his first action came against Louisville when Katz was briefly hurt – his first pass came on a third down from OSU’s 3-yard line (incomplete) … also replaced an injured Katz for a series in OSU’s opening drive against Oregon … saw his most action against Stanford, where he completed 4 of 10 for 34 yards, including a 21-yard pass to former tight end John Reese. 2009: Redshirt.

ST. MARY’S: Highly recruited quarterback … posted a 24-5 record over two years as the starting quarterback for Lodi HS … three-star recruit, according to Rivals.com and Scout.com … in his senior season, he completed 258 of 389 passes for 3,908 yards with 32 touchdowns and 10 interceptions … St. Mary’s was selected to play in its first CIF D-II state championship game where he set a state bowl game record with 336 yards, hitting 31-of-46 pass attempts with four touchdown passes and no interceptions … Stockton Record Player of the Year following the ’08 season … one of 10 finalists for CalHiSports.com’s Mr. Football State Player of the Year … two-time Tri-City Athletic League MVP … as a junior he was 215-for-332 for 3,268 yards and 32 touchdowns with just 10 interceptions … was named the Tri-City League Offensive MVP, First Team all-area, Second Team All-Northern California and all-state underclass.

PERSONAL: Born August 16, 1990 in Lodi, California … son of Phil and Julie Vaz … has one sister, Chelsea … chose Oregon State because of “the coaching staff and the family atmosphere on the team” … expected to graduate in August with a degree in sociology.
